Please let me introduce myself. I'm Alvero Ocampo MD MPH owner and medical director to OSHA Medical Consulting, LLC and OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen on-line testing and certification.
I have been an Occupational and Environmental Medicine practitioner for over thirty years. I was trained at the University of California San California UCSF and completed a Masters in Environmental Health at the University of California at Berkeley where I undertook further training at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, Ga. I was assigned to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Also I did my training as a pathologist as the Mallory Institute of Pathology at Boston University in Boston.
I have been directly involved in the different areas of Occupational Medicine throughout my medical career and specifically in the area of the prevention of Bloodborne Pathogens. I am directly in charge of preventive programs in the Health care industry, Medical laboratories and at Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Sites (HAZWOOPER), covering employees in several potential scenarios where Bloodborne Pathogens hazardous infectious materials and emergency response standard responses may interface. Another group of workers that I have implemented the Federal Standards are the Tattoo artists and their associates who are potentially exposed to Bloodborne Pathogens and have to comply by the OSHA standards.
I recognized that it is very important to educate all employees who are potentially exposed to blood borne pathogens in the industry and other operations that are related and covered by the Federal Standards. Knowledge is the best prevention together with the practical information that complements the rationale for standards to accomplish complete safety with the utilization of all the regulatory procedures associated and the daily activities to prevent accidental exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens. One of my main interests was to complete this project and I am very satisfied with the results. I hope that you will receive the full benefit of my experience in this field and will maintain a well regulated work site for you and to participate along with all your coworkers in a safe environment to prevent Bloodborne exposures in your work site. If you have any questions please let us know so we can address your concerns.
Thank you very much for your interest in our program and please be safe.
